Gemini Now Lets You Drop In (Almost) Any File
As of September 8, 2025, Google’s Gemini app lets you upload many file types right into a chat. You can then ask questions, get summaries, or compare files. Think of it like a smart desk where you can throw down your notes, audio, and pictures—and it understands them.
What kinds of files work?
- Audio: MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC, AIFF
- Documents: PDFs, Word docs, text files
- Spreadsheets: CSV, Excel, Google Sheets exports
- Images: PNG, JPG, GIF
- Video: common short video files
- Code & ZIPs: repos and archives for quick review
Why this is helpful
No more jumping between apps. Put your files in one chat and ask for what you need—summary, key points, or “what changed from last month?” It’s like having a careful note-taker, translator, and coach in the same window.
Audio superpowers
You can upload long audio (up to about 9.5 hours total) and ask timestamp questions like, “What did they decide from 02:30 to 03:29?” Great for lectures, meetings, and podcasts.
Quick limits (good to know)
- Up to 10 files per prompt
- Video: up to ~2 GB each (about 5 minutes total per prompt)
- Other files: up to ~100 MB each
- Advanced users: larger context windows available in Gemini Advanced
Everyday ways to use it
- Classes & Meetings: Upload the recording and ask for a two-line summary and action items.
- Language Practice: Drop in a short podcast and ask for vocab from 1:45–2:30.
- Money Check-in: Add PDF/CSV statements and ask, “Compare my spending to last month.”
- Creative Help: Share a 30-second clip or photo and ask, “How can I improve the lighting?”
- Recipes/DIY: Post a photo of ingredients and ask for simple, step-by-step instructions.
- Travel: Upload your itinerary and ask for the best route and reminders.
3-step quick start
- Open Gemini on web, Android, or iOS.
- Tap the clip/plus icon and attach your files (you can add several at once).
- Ask a clear question (example: “Summarize slide 5,” or “Give notes from 10:00–12:00”).
Tip: Be specific. Mention timestamps, slide numbers, or sheet names for faster, better answers.

Governments Are Getting Their Own AI Tools
Big tech companies are now creating special versions of their AI just for governments. These tools focus on things like security, schools, and public services. Think of it like building a “government edition” of the same software you use at home—but with extra safety locks and tailored features.
Quick Look
Here’s what the major AI players are offering:
- xAI (Elon Musk’s company): Grok for Government — designed for defense, science, and tech missions. Reports say the Pentagon is looking at big contracts.
- Anthropic: Claude for Government — U.S. agencies can test it for just $1 through a special “OneGov” deal. Built with high security in mind.
- Google: Gemini for Government — offered through a federal program with very low pricing. Comes with Gemini models, search tools, and custom assistants.
- Perplexity: Perplexity for Government — a secure version with extra protections, already being piloted by some agencies.
- OpenAI: OpenAI for Greece — bringing ChatGPT Edu to schools, training teachers, and running startup programs backed by the Greek government.
Why It Matters
Governments often move slowly with new tech, but these programs are changing that. Special agreements (like OneGov) make it easier and cheaper for agencies to try AI. For example, teachers in Greece are already using ChatGPT Edu in classrooms, while U.S. agencies are testing secure AI tools for public services and defense.
Big Picture
AI isn’t just for business or personal use anymore. It’s quickly becoming part of how countries run schools, defense, and public programs. That means the tools you see today could soon shape the way whole nations make decisions.

Qwen3-Max-Preview: A Trillion-Parameter AI
Big news from Qwen! They just introduced Qwen3-Max-Preview (Instruct), their largest AI model yet — with over 1 trillion parameters. That’s a huge step up in power and knowledge compared to their older models.
What’s new?
- Beats Qwen’s previous best (Qwen3-235B) in benchmarks.
- Handles longer conversations with clearer answers.
- Better at following instructions and completing tasks.
- Supports agent-style work (acting like a helper that takes steps for you).
Why it matters
Qwen shows that “scaling up” really works — bigger models can be smarter and more useful. This preview is just the start, with the official release expected to be even stronger.

ChatGPT Lets You Branch Conversations
By popular request, ChatGPT now lets you branch a conversation. That means you can take a discussion in a new direction without losing the original thread. It’s like making a copy of your chat so you can test different ideas side by side.
Why this is useful
- Explore options: Ask “What if we did it this way?” without losing your main chat.
- Compare answers: Keep the original response and see how a new path looks next to it.
- Stay organized: No need to start a brand-new chat every time you want to branch off.
How to try it
- Log in to ChatGPT on the web.
- Click the option to branch when you want to explore a new idea.
- Switch between branches to see your different paths clearly.
Analogy: Think of it like a “Choose Your Own Adventure” book — you can follow multiple storylines without losing your place.
